According to the newspaper “Okaz,” a source in the Traffic Department in Taif stated that the Traffic Directorate has begun implementing a decision to prohibit the renewal of vehicle registration for cars manufactured in 1990 and earlier.

The newspaper added that the decision aims to reduce the use of older model vehicles on roads, which cause traffic congestion and obstruct traffic flow, in addition to contributing to environmental protection.

The source said that owners of vehicles from 1990 models and earlier will not be able to renew their registration, but they will be allowed to deregister their plates after scrapping the vehicles in accordance with the applicable regulations.
