Road traffic accidents claim the lives of 1.2 million people annually, with Saudi Arabia ranking second among Arab countries.

Al-Youm – Dammam

Saudi Arabia ranked second among Arab countries after Libya and 23rd globally in terms of road traffic death rates, with 27.4 deaths per 100,000 population. Libya recorded 73.4%, while Jordan recorded 26.3%, Oman 25.4%, Algeria 23.8%, Kuwait 18.7%, Qatar 15.2%, Egypt 12.8%, the UAE 10.9%, and Bahrain 8%, according to a 2015 World Health Organization report on global road safety.

40,000 women's licenses and 14 new schools
The Director General of Traffic in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Major General Mohammed Al-Bassami, announced that the total number of licenses issued to women is more than 40,000, considering the experience of women driving to be one of the pioneering experiences, adding that driving schools for women are considered model schools and apply the international standard, and we are working on expanding women's driving schools.

Saudi Automobile Federation (SAF) is a member of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which represents more than 230 automobile and motorsport clubs in over 130 countries worldwide.

The Saudi Automobile Federation (SAF) was established in 1988 under the presidency of Mr. Saif bin Fahad Al-Subaie.

Through its offices across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, SAF provides Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD) and International Driving Permit (IDP) services, facilitating international travel for members and the general public with their vehicles through this extensive network of affiliated clubs.

The FIA aims to promote safe, sustainable, and accessible mobility for all, while supporting motorists and advancing the interests of road users worldwide.

The Saudi Automobile Federation is also a member of the Alliance Internationale de Tourisme (AIT) and the Arab Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTAC).
