The General Directorate of Traffic revealed that the procedure for issuing a driving license for women is clear and simple, according to the executive regulations of Article 36 of the Traffic Law. It requires anyone applying for a private driving license to be at least 18 years old.

The authority also explained that one of the conditions is that applicants must be at least 20 years old for public driving licenses, in addition to passing a medical examination and both theoretical and practical driving tests after completing the required training hours at driving schools.

The General Directorate of Traffic had also begun replacing internationally recognized driving licenses in the Kingdom with Saudi licenses at several locations across cities in the country.

After verifying the authenticity of the submitted license through the “Saudi Driving License Electronic Portal” and assessing the ability of applicants wishing to exchange their licenses through a practical driving test.

The Traffic Department confirmed – according to its official Twitter account – that the royal decree was clear in applying the traffic system equally to both men and women, and therefore the department will enforce the system without exceptions.
